I cant really blame them. They can't sustain not being paid. Now they have to recruit people who wont get paid. Thst is going to be a tough one.

I didn’t know there was a shut down currently.
This shut down doesn't have SNAP or ATC to put pressure on Congress to reopen and they just started a war that took everyone's attention. They know if there gonna be any pressure it's from them.
General public doesnt seem to understand (or, let’s be honest, care about) just how fucking bad it’s been working for the feds. DOJ is awful rn but i cant imagine going through yet another shutdown.

300 officers quit? How is that even possible? My coworkers and I are Excepted and worked during the 40+ whatever day shutdown without pay because we have bills and families that require health insurance.

In the last three months tsa has gone like 60 days and counting without pay. Even after the last shutdown we had to wait until the next payday to get back wages. I resigned. Others will too..

There is absolutely a private TSA option. They have to follow the same rules, standards, and training of federalized TSA, and for most airports they don't view the additional overhead as worth the hassle. It also, in the grand tradition of contractors replacing salaried feds...
