Any person get something resembling this from their employer this year?
It's kinda BS that historically we had Easter off and now we have to operate ot because the company's "period researching" shows the customers desire to shop on Easter. Lol no they don't. We'll be there for nothing, guaranteed, and we don't even get holiday pay for it. What a joke.

Customer in the store on Easter: "Why aren't you guys with your families today?"
The only proper response: "Look in the mirror, dipshit."
My husband used to work in a video store years ago and they were open on major holidays. People asked this all the time, and he responded with, "if no customers came in, we wouldn't be open. These will be due back Tuesday."
Easter is not a national holiday because it is always on Sunday. Your company is making excuses for being shitty. They could at least pay a little more that day. That sucks
Not paying holiday pay for it is BS.
Yeah, the excuses are really terrible. They genuinely sent out this thinking we're dumb as hell and don't know they're simply greedy.
Several cities and states in the US designate Easter Monday as state holidays... so in those locations, that can be an argument in favor of holiday pay, too.
The way they’ve decided to capitalize words is deeply upsetting
Does anyone else silently pronounce the capitalized words with more emphasis?
It's so... Trumpesque
I'm working on Easter because I really don't give a shit about the holiday and someone actually has to work that day. Working retail on Easter is utter bullshit. It's completely unnecessary and just another way for corporate to remind employees that they have no power and no ...
I mean, unless you have kids and do easter related activities or are religious in a Christian way, it’s just another sunday for a lot of people.
If customers are shopping on Easter, I hope you make all the subtle passive-aggressive remarks to them you possibly can.
To be fair, I have no idea when Easter Sunday is because I have never celebrated zombies. I would ignorantly go to a store if I needed something. That said, I also would not care if a shop closed so the staff could get a day off for any reason, there are very few things that...
This shift better be no cleaning and only leaning, because fuck whatever shitsock thought this was a good idea.
Unpopular opinion: Easter is a religious holiday not much different from Passover, Ramadan, or Chinese New Year Just because it’s Easter doesn’t mean everyone gets the day off We gotta keep feeding the Capitalist Machines and make sure we can take everyone’s money regardless...
'Customer needs' -- they misspelled 'Our greed.'
Fuck that. In aus, 3/4 days of Easter (fri-mon) are public holidays and the bonus pay rates are huuuuuge. What a joke.
I worked over Easter a few years ago and got quadruple time on Easter Monday as we worked 12 hours. That was a nice pay cheque!
\> historically we had Easter off I'm just not coming and they can do w/e they want.
The same pieces of shit that show up to a place like this on Easter are the same people claiming there's a war on Christmas. The call's coming from inside the house, Sharon!!!
It’s a war on Christianity! /s
"decision made based on our customers needs" What a crock of shit. The company just wants more money.
So it goes. If a large, publicly traded company ever leaves "money on the table" they'd have to answer to "activist investors". Workers' rights and work/life balance are costs, to be minimised. We had to unionise and literally put our lives on the line for those rights whic...
This is a religious holiday. Companies must honor this, and I’m *pretty* sure it is illegal to ask an employee what their religion is.
i think companies only have to do reasonable accommodations for stuff like this.
You gotta get those emergency boots and chicken feed you know
This is incredibly poorly written.
While working for a Batteries Plus franchise they gave us Easter off. Kicker was, no one got "holiday pay". If you didn't work any 5 days between Monday - Saturday, you didn't get a full week in. I didn't care about working Easter. I'm not religious, I don't care about tha...
Why would you expect holiday pay if they gave you Easter off? Meaning you weren't working on a holiday... Am I missing something here?
This type of thing is the reason I refuse to enter any store on a holiday. I refuse to provide the corporate overlords the justification to be open for business on holidays.
How do you determine what holidays to stay in for? Did you go into a store last month (Feb 17th) during lunar new year's or is it just major Christian religious holidays?
My store is only closed for one day a year and that's Christmas. We're open every other bloody day. Inevitably I'll get people asking "why do they have you working today?" oh idk perhaps it's cause you're shopping today?!??
It is one of three days of the year that liquor stores are required to be closed in most states. And liquor store hours are heavily monitored by every state government. Just saying.
Blue laws are based in religion and associated morality.
Sounds like most national retailers but without the many many flowery bullshit corporate words. Workers just find out when they see their schedule. Edit: in the US.
No company has "legendary customer service" and those that say they do are lying
They say treat employees request for time off like any other Sunday. I'm reminded of this: Passover is not a federally protected holiday for time off in the U.S., but it is considered a reasonable accommodation under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. Employers must accommod...
Which if you typically are a sunday worker in a retail business, then everyone or a lot of people asking off could qualify as “undue hardship” If this a grocery store or something, it makes sense to be open on Easter, since Sunday is a busy shopping day for most people. If O...
Malicious compliance! You: Welcome to Petsense. Customer: Happy Easter You: Per a corporate memo today is just a Sunday like any other Sunday, how can I be of superior customer service?
Bet that in store labor budget doesn’t include holiday pay smh
Who the heck wants to be at Tractor Supply on EASTER?!
THIS IS A WAR AGAINST EASTER! WHAT ABOUT JESUS?!
"This decision was made based on customer needs" roughly translates to "This decision was based on the greed of Hal Lawton, Vanguard, and Blackrock."
Hi, I need religious accommodation. My old employer allowed for up to 3 sick days to be used for religious observance, outside of vacation time. I used them as 3 free days of my choosing. Me: Hey boss I'm taking X date(s) for religious observance. Boss: Oh? *chuckling* What...
Capitol letters throughout this memo are cringe worthy
One more reason why I shop at my local grocery store. They close on major holidays and have *very* limited hours on semi-holidays (July 4th, Labor Day, Easter and, Memorial Day) 8-12.
Leaving the retail hellscape was the one of the best decisions I ever made. I did it for like 15 years and it continually gets worse and worse.
Honestly? Fuck them customers.
My work only observes national holidays too, and its not even retail. But honestly, I dont care about Easter either.
So glad I left TSC before it went to hell. Just remember, the Mission and Value are for you, not them. They will violate them any time they want to. Dont buy in to the whole country values thing.
Brought to you by the same people who scream Christians are being persecuted in the US. None of it makes any damn sense.
Get used to it. They(corporate heads and owners) want all businesses open 7 days a week 12 hours a day minimum. We were open on Thanksgiving last year and New Year’s Day this year. I’m sure they will make us be here on Easter Sunday. The only day off we got last year was Chris...
People need their Ivermectin!
I’m surrounded by farms, we have a local feed store similar to Tractor Supply. I don’t even think they’re open all day on Saturday and are closed on Sundays. We’re all still alive. This company just sucks.
We run 24/7/365. The production floor is always running. If your shift lands on a holiday you work it. But you do get holiday pay on top of your regular pay. Easter isn't a paid holiday for us but Good Friday is.
STRIKE. Picket. Shit, call your local teamsters union and ask if they have any organizers you could meet. Form a union at your shop and demand a paid holiday on Easter.
Legendary customer service … is where I stopped reading.
Fuck you Petsense and Tractor Supply.
I used to work for a company like this. Easter, Independence Day, Christmas Eve couldn’t close even an hour early. No one is buying a new home on Christmas fucking Eve. The only people coming to a new construction development on Easter Sunday are people who are bored of being ...
I know this is anti work but like. Idk what you expect. Retail is always open. I'm not in retail and I work easter. But I'm also not religious and don't care about the holiday.
Enjoy the leather.
I assume you're paid by the hour though? If so I don't understand what the problem is.
