When someone dismisses concerns about wealth inequality with "You're recently jealous," how do you respond?

In my opinion the "jealous"-response is usually in terrible faith, an attempt to discredit someone in front of others. Sometimes it's genuine cluelessness however, not all folks have been educated on the risks of extreme wealth inequality. How do you respond in either scenario?

It's what's called a "thought terminating cliche". It's not about you at all. It's what allows the one who makes the statement to go "it must be that, so I no longer have to think about it." I believe it's usually done out of a subconscious fear that if they examined the is...

It's constructed blissful ignorance. But it is possible to deconstruct if you're a person they respect. It's important not to think of it as "intentional" though because that would suggest the person is aware of what it is. But people who have learned to use thought terminati...

>It's not about you at all. People tend to interact with others based on how *they* see the world. *They* might feel such a way about wealth disparity and expect you to feel no different (even if they're not consciously aware of all this). Ask them, "are *you* jealous?" an...

I am 9 years sober. Our system is run by wealth addicts. I am confident in saying this because it takes one to know one. Get addicts the help they need. For some that's going cold turkey  Not to mention how wildly inefficient it is economically, but math doesn't seem to work...

I don't want to be rich. I just want the rich to leave enough for the rest of us to have comfortable lives.

"Distinctly YES" and then I explain the problem and the problematic mindset at thinking jealousy is something that is inherently bad. You'd be surprised how fast agreeing with them stills their tongue.

But I'm not jealous, I'm angry. I don't want to be a billionaire. I want my clothes to be not made in a sweat shop. I want to be able to buy a house. I don't want a $100,000 medical bill because my dad got cancer! I just want them to fuck off and let me live my life!

I shouldn't have to outbid a billionaire for my home, that's my problem with wealth inequality. Jealous is saying, "you're just as selfish as they are, and you are just mad that you don't have it and they do. You'd do the same thing in their shoes" So there's a grain of tr...

I'm not jealous. I'm living a fairly comfortable life. We're in the top 2% of household incomes in my country. I'm in the middle between the homeless and the billionaires, but let's face it, I'm far closer to homelessness than to being a billionaire. But my own situation is n...

Ive never desired to be the kind of incompetent fool that comes with having every problem ive ever faced getting taken care of by daddy’s money and it would be even worse to be the kind of man that exploited all that wealth from his employees personally instead of inheriting it.

I don't want any more money. I have a modest, but sufficient income. I simply want them to help others less fortunate, and I don't have the additional means to do enough myself. The wealthy need to contribute more.

I usually ignore it because it's not true, I make a ton of money, both my wife and I are in the medical field and have already saved so much that money will never really be an issue for us. I'm still happy to be taxed more in order to help fund important infrastructure and a s...

These idiots usually have no perception of the difference between big numbers like a million, billion and a trillion. Not necessarily the mathematical perception but what that much money can actually accomplish.
