If you're content with how you're living your life, who cares what anyone thinks. We all end up in the ground and forgotten.
i really like this answer thank you man
I do this full time and i dont feel like a bum. It doesnt matter what you do to make money as long as u happy with the money thats coming in thats whats matters. Fuck whoever says doordashing makes u a bum i make over $25 plus an hour and 6k a month and whoever think so otherw...
Hey, can I ask what market you’re in? Seems better than mine!
Daaamnn that amount in under 40 hrs is crazy good, hell yea
What's your MPG?
Honest work is honest work. I have more than thirty years in management among other skills and I worked my behind off while raising two boys. I missed alot of things. I am raising my grandson and I like that I. an be there any time I need to be. This week, I have played...
I understand & respect this perspective…but lets be honest, DS is good for a situation like yours OR supplemental income. You will not get ahead in life with dasher as your career
Yea I really like doing this and Instacart. Every day is the same but is different. Ya know?
Exactly this, I love being available for my child
I worry about insurance. I don't think DD has health insurance. Car accident with no insurance and you're potentially ruined.. I have a "real job" with good insurance. Don't feel like a bum because I have seen every walk of life young, middle age, elderly, talked to people wh...
Those "real jobs" still require you pay a portion of the cost of that health insurance and let's be honest a lot of jobs at this income level do not give you enough hours to even qualify for those benefits. Thanks to the substantial write offs it's not hard to get insurance o...
You can generally get health insurance through your state Insurance Marketplace (Healthcare.gov) and it gives you a lower premium if you make less money.
Excellent points
Stop caring about what others think of you.
It's called The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck! And it works wonders!
This is important
I can really relate to this topic. I'm in SoCal and I'm making a decent amount of money with with Doordash, above average in fact. I'm also nearly debt free and own a home. I can't afford *everything,* but there really isn't anything I want or need right now. When ever a new ...
Really depends on the market. I'm doing both Door Dash and Uber while looking for fulltime work, and I barely make $400 a week. That doesn't even pay rent, let alone other bills. Never had a DD job pay more than about $12. Best Uber job was a $35 passenger run, that was ...
When you're dying you realize it doesn't really matter what your occupation was. The trick is to realize that before you're dying.
Do yourself a favor and think about those student loans they are paying/paid and you are not.. Ha! I'm a retired nurse and I enjoy doing this gig work.. I used to run an Operating Room - covid did me in - I had enough.. I like these responsibilities a lot more than the ones I ...
That’s ego man. If you make good money and aren’t miserable, that’s a win these days. Pros and cons to everything. People who make lots of money with real jobs often have out of this world stress and are miserable beyond belief. It’s about being happy and comfortable at the en...
Keep your back straight, head up. Be kind to every food worker. Carry yourself.
Maybe you'd feel better if you talked with a financial adviser. The biggest difference in this and many other jobs is 401ks and insurance . If you like the job and make good money, get what regular job people have - financial security. Personally, I'm more bothered that the...
It certainly beats working on the other side of the counter.
Those aren’t the only 2 career choices in life
I’ve been told it’s not a real job while making peoples 2 week paychecks in 37 hours so it’s one of those things you just have to shrug off.
Are you by chance reading and internalizing all of the asshole comments some people make on other subreddits and FB groups about drivers? You are performing a service that others want badly enough they'll pay a premium price for it. Driving in heavy traffic 6-8 hours(or more...
You're not a bummer. You obviously have ambitions. Chase your dreams and work. That is life. God bless you.
It’s important not to overlook your ambitions
Tonight I listened to a 2 hr podcast while I delivered and made $90 in 3 hours. This job isn't always great, but tonight ruled. Don't beat yourself up. A 1099 job is as real of a job as a W2 job.
Me listening to business audio books while I’m driving lol
?
I struggle with the same thoughts, but it’s mainly because my family thinks it’s beneath me, I have the smarts and education to do more, I’m selling myself short, blah blah blah. What they don’t realize is that I’m happier doing this than any of my previous corporate jobs. The...
Heck I was told I make more than the woman who’s been at ShopRite for 45 years. Work is work.
Well, respectfully, it may be a real job, but it's not a career. Think of it as a stepping stone to greater things
any job can be a career even if you don't want to do it yourself.
You are doing a service for people and getting paid for it. Would you feel this way if you were a delivery driver for another gig?
Well and this is another piece of it…..there are disabled people, young mothers, sick people, and all sorts of other people this helps even if they are paying. Snap orders are generally free and don’t have tips but I will take an order quick for formula and baby food.
There are people with real jobs who are bums.
It’s because 99% of the world is programmed to believe only a job where you clock in and have a boss, will make you money. Also people have this weird idea that we can’t get a job, so it’s a societal problem, not a you problem. I do mostly spark now and the associates think t...
You are doing honest work and living a honest life.. you are out here making money everyday so you are not a bum for sure.. don’t ever worry or care what other people think cause this is your life that you are living and if someone doesn’t like it , then f-ck em !!!!! Sending ...
Your family will literally wreck you if you let them. If your talking about parents. You can be certain when they were at your age the world wasn't the world it is now. So the way they got down in life doesn't even apply now .

You are providing a service to people that want it. Just because it’s 1099 work doesn’t make it less of a job. Biggest thing is finding enjoyment in it.
Depends on what you want out of life 🤷♀️
Print some business cards. That'll make it a real job.
Dude, it really comes down to how you utilize your money. If you’re investing it and it’s growing, you’ll get the last laugh.
Define "real job".
I have an engineering degree, yet I choose to do this instead. I despise corporate life.
Here's how I'm perfectly fine being a full time gig worker: 1.) I've lost jobs over staff reductions, store closures, a Manager being petty, quitting, and medical issues. This allows me to just work without all that. 2.) I make $900~ per week. More than those other jobs an...
Do you have an issue with not having a more prestigious job title, or is it the driving itself?
I left my job as an insurance agent/CSR to bartend, daytimes at a blue collar dive bar. I made 4x the money I did at the office and could say the F word all I wanted. You make a REAL living and REAL money, right? Don’t let society put you in a box. You don’t have to ans...
Just came to say I dash full time and if I let it get to me it gets to me. But I seriously decided that I’m just fitting in what works best in my life right now so I decided I’d party on with it. Like pack healthy snacks drinks I Make banger playlist that rattle your bones an...
how are you making good money doing this? not being sarcastic
i work weekends in a 30k pop city, for about 8 hours a night, and it's usually around 200$ by monday. for a 19 year old I'm okay with it
When you add the extreme wear and tare on the vehicle, and the high gas prices.. we don't really make that good of money. Plus door dash drivers, and im one too ,are respected about as much as tweakers. Or people that get welfare , it's Ridiculous, get a part time job, if yo...
I like doordash because you can leave and do something else and your dasher account is waiting for you to pick up right where you left off . Whenever you need too , it's like having a job tucked away for the bad times.
