AMAZING brand new rideshare bill in the Colorado state legislature

Colorado House Bill 1273 might limit Uber, Lyft, and all other Rideshare companies to keep only 20% of the fare. Not 60-70% similar to they’ve been doing; you get to keep a full *80 percent of the fare.* Do everything you can to support this bill! Even if you’re not a Colorado resident, this bill would be among the first of its kind setting a precedent for other states to follow. And Uber is saying a bunch of bullshit to get folks to oppose it like how drivers make $35/hour 🤣🤣🤣

It's crazy that the person that is doing the labor doesn't receive at least the majority of the fare. These tech companies are just intermediaries, they don't do anything outside of match people together. Could you imagine if Amazon Etsy or eBay started taking 60 percent of t...

Matching people is literally ALL THE WORK, they pay, they insure... but Uber only takes 20%.

It’s so bad… I didn’t think Uber could make themselves look worse, but here they are. Uber managers, we see what you are doing, don’t think you are fooling anybody!!! EARN TRUST!!!

It’s really funny to see, they aren’t even trying to hide it.

Good. I remember AB5 in California, Uber and the other gig conpanies spammed everyone with political propaganda, told lies, and omitted key details regarding Prop 22. Like the fact that AB5 would've given us all better pay, better benefits, actual rights. They love to rely on ...

In California, the fare breakdown has Uber always taking quite a bit less than 20% of the fare. Some weeks Uber's "take" is as little as 5%. Yet in this market, the drivers only earn between 30-40% of the fare paid by the rider. In the breakdowns, Uber separates out regulatory...

Yes. Exactly, what other industry makes you pay for something at their own market price with no transparency. It’s literally what mining towns did. They are crying they are not taking any money but the “estimated insurance” for a 3 minute ride is $20, what happens when that “e...

I did Uber a number of times over the years to fill in gaps between other things. The last time I did it was at least a couple of years ago. But the first time I did it was way way back... maybe 2013... or around there. I mention that as back then, this was how it worked. It w...

YOu gotta read the fine print. Uber gets 20%, but the 3rd party fees is not capped. So it will still be 60%

The real question is whether they overpay on auto insurance premiums and then have money returned later as a profit scheme.

You have to look at your bill... Uber only takes 20%. All the other charges are taken by the Government.

That’s not how it works. Uber doesn’t “keep” 60-70%. They keep 10-20% and pass through fees, taxes, and insurance for the rest.

What is your relationship with Uber, Mr 1% Top Poster? This defense of a company that has consistently worked against drivers is something none of us would type. What is your actual job?

I love that anyone who can read and understand legislation and policy gets called a shill or a bot by people who have the emotional maturity and literacy skills of a garbage bag.

And the headline following the passage of that bill? "Uber and Lyft discontinue service in Colorado". Many such cases.

They have threatened to pull out of multiple markets but never have when these measures have passed laws like this. Because why would they give up on 100s of millions of dollars of profit. Just look at minnesota, california washington, new york as examples

This is just not true. Uber is taking roughly 60% of the fare that the customer pays already. This can easily be fact checked while you are out ubering by and you accept a ride, just put the same ride in your customer app and see it’s more than double what you’re getting paid.

Wow. What a poorly written bill. The term *price gouging* was used no less than 2 times. Someone should inform the author that there is no current declared state of emergency. Also, there is no mention of insurance. If they limit Uber's retainment to 20%, I can see Uber shif...

Meanwhile, the ride I took to the airport this morning, uber charged $90, paid me $41. The next ride went 3 miles, uber charged her $6 and paid me $5.50, but they’re crying poverty, that’s called a Ponzi scheme
