[AZ] was given this random pet screening email, 2 months after signing my lease.

I have been in my current apartment for 5 years, I just re-signed my lease 2 months ago and today I get this random email from a random corporation saying I must have to create a profile and when my fiancé tried, it wanted to fee him $30 for both of our cats!! He stated to hell with this and ignored it. Btw anything about a pet screening and paying fees besides our monthly pet rent is nowhere on our lease/pet addendum. So I’m confused on wtf this is?

I got this email too. At first I ignored it, then when they complained at me I said my pets are in my lease already and this company you want me to go through isn't. So they gave up. But I'm dealing with a property management company who took over for a small landlord and the ...

Ahh i see, So if this isn’t in my lease then I don’t have to do it? I plan to just ignore it, because my leasing office never told me themselves, all I got was this random email. In my lease it says they must distribute a copy of changes to me in writing.

I've been getting this shit but it wasn't in my lease.(Also AZ) They already know my dogs breeds, I put on a pet deposit and pay pet rent. I've been ignoring it. It came after a new owner and no issues so far. However I don't know if it will be there when I renew.

Did they also demand payment and demand you make a profile too?

Sounds like yet another way to scam you out of money. Property management companies are absolute predators.

I've been getting this shit for a while now. In my case, I've been receiving emails notifying me that my profile is non compliant since November 2025, we have no pets and we've been living in our apartment since September 2022. Leasing office hasn't contacted me directly abou...

That’s bullshit that you have no pets and they still want you to do it, seems like a money grab!

Many properties use PetScreening now even for residents without pets. Usually the system allows you to register as “no pet / pet-free,” which just confirms that you don’t have animals in the unit. Property managers often use it to keep documentation consistent across all resi...

THIS COMPANY SUCKS! I wrote to my attorney general in WA about them. You are forced to screen your pet but this company WILL CHARGE YOU EACH YEAR to have an “account”. Regardless of pet screening - you are charged for having the account itself. AG office did nothing. I thoug...

I blocked that company from sending me emails , out of site , out of mind! Like other commenters I’ve been at my place for 4 years and they recently (6 months ago) asked us to sign up for this site.. after researching and finding there to be a cost associated with it , I block...

How did you block them? When I go to the bottom of the email there isn’t an option to unsubscribe.

I kept getting the same message from my old apartment complex after move out (FL). My wife and I went to our current apartment and asked if they work with pet screener and when they said no, we blocked the emails from them. Hopefully that won’t bite me in the ass

I got that too. Honestly they're a scumbag company and harassed anyone that a landlord tells them to go after. Tried explaining our ESA is in the approved lease that the new landlord signed off on, pet screening basically told me that's worth squat and unless they approve it ...

They kept denying my ESA letter written by my care provider. 1st it didnt “specify what animals” ( i have a cat and dog) - then it didnt clearly state why i needed them (for my mental health). finally my doctor was fed up and put in the letter than she does not need to write m...

I got that at my place, too. I don't have animals, other than some fish, but they don't count. Beware. The terms and condition is of that pet screening bs state they are totally selling your info to third parties. I refused to do it. Still waiting for my complex to compla...

I have esa cats on my lease and they tried to make me do this. I said the same when I saw the charges for it- blocked the email and never did it and they've never brought it up or said anything about it. Just ignore it. If its not in your lease they cant enforce it anyways.

You got it from the random company, and not from your management company? Sounds like a scam or spam.

Yes, completely random from this third party company. The company is legit, but my leasing office never told me anything about a pet screening, it’s not in my lease either.

I wouldn’t worry about it since not in the lease. But if the rental company demands you do it, in writing, the I’d ask them to pay for the fee associated with it. Or no go! It’s a scam system and predatory!

Ignore. You’re not required to respond to them/share your data with them. Contractual privity is between you and your landlord. And only you determine how far and which entities are able to view your health data. Tell them to kick rocks.

They can require this at renewal. Did you read your renewal? If you expect to stay with your pets it’s best to do what is expected or they won’t renew you at all just for being difficult.
