As a very small shareholder I hate this shit. They churn out shit games, and then do this and it really doesn't even add stock value. It wasn't until they announced selling that the stock price jumped. It was hovering around 120-140 for like a decade. Meanwhile my Sony stoc...
Does anyone else absolutely hate corporate waffle?
They are just going to replace them with Ai. That’s why I really hope the Ai bubble bursts hard.
At first it seems dumb, but then I remembered that EA is owned by Jared Kushner and the Saudis now.
They weren't stellar before that point; they are being kept afloat by madden.
If you’re still supporting ea in 2026, you got more problems than a math book.
I'm not playing Battlefield 6 because I don't want to be forced to enable Secure Boot and stuff to play a game. It's fucking ridiculous.
Make a bad game? Laid off Make a Good Game? Still Laid off
Lol.wow. merger already sucks.
EA was laying people off long before they sold. I view this as a continuation of horrid behavior. EA was garbage before and are still garbage now.
U N I O N I Z E
I honestly dont see how anyone can support EA anymore.
Of course, they did that. Didn't you know we can replace all the very expensive devs with AI and cheap labour from other studios that have laid off people? There is no loyalty when "maximising shareholder value" even if that means burning institutional knowledge to the ground.
Couldn't the people laid off sue them since they had record breaking success? The entire point of lay offs is to mitigate loss, but there was no loss here
Nah, game development is largely contract work, very few people are technically permanent employees so devs don’t have many legal protections. It’s very much like the movie industry a hundred years ago before everyone unionized
laying off dev teams following project completion is now common across the industry. It's not only supremely shitty but it also disrupts any relationships and working relationships people have built up while working together, meaning you can go from doing a stellar game to a t...
And people wonder why I didnt get into game development.
I mean, you can always do it as a hobby, or with people you trust.
I mean if you’re working for EA, why would you expect any different?
They got their money then cut support for consumers, who would have thought they’d do that. I for one am shocked!
EA is there to make profit not employees people or make games. Whatever makes more profit is what they do.
If you love the fear of losing your job for absolutely no reason, AAA is for you.
Who’s even still playing games by EA? 😂
A lot because they have sports games on lockdown.
I love the entertainment, but that industry, I swear. Make a dud? Layoffs. Make a hit? Layoffs.
"So long, and thanks for all the money."
It’s weird to me that the system is designed to where developers even need these people at all. I get it, videogames are VERY expensive to make, especially at that level. It’s just weird to me that without developers, the videogame company doesn’t have a product. Without board...
The reward for doing great and contributing to massive success is being fired. Make it make sense.
Don’t work for EA. It’s not even impressive on a résumé anymore. Now it just tells potential employers that you’ve been in the presence of evil and chosen not to kill it.
Not defending this at all, but this is how large studios operate, right? They hire a bunch of people to do the grunt work to get a game released, then lay them off when it’s done. It’s just the high level leads that tend to stay on for more than a few games?
I get that less work is needed after the game launches, but doesn’t this incentivize people to delay the launch of the game to keep their jobs?
Ea continuing to be a shitty company, in other news the sky is blue, birds still fly and the orange is in the files
Translation: “We got this turkey launched, we don’t need you anymore. Fuck off.”
If you made a bad game you get fired. It was expected.
