SSA wins telework arbitration.
SSA won its telework arbitration. How likely that we in fact get to see telework implemented. Are there appeals available to delay restarting telework?

I’m not ssa but if they brought back telework for DOD I’d absolutely sh*t myself. Congrats on the victory.
It’s wild I’m in a building that was remodeled for 200+ people it’s averaging about 27 people a day even though supposedly we’re all back in office. Rough math they are paying about 114k per person per yr to have a desk in this facility. It blows my mind, DoD also.
I went ahead and crapped my pants just in case.
SSA has a pretty decent union
HHS also won but nothing has changed.
Wow seriously?!! They were supposed to go back to telework immediately!
SEC did too. Nothing changed and the agency appealed, so nothing will change for a long time. And the CBA is up for renewal next year. The chair has made it clear he hates recurring telework. He even had his private sector firm staff coming in during Covid.
I thought HHS asked for an appeal in court? Those appeals can take a year though.
A normal administration would have never let things get here. But the great leader can never accept defeat or error. It is highly unlikely he’ll just turn things on.
Dude honestly already forgot about the whole ordeal. But finding out he lost anything is going to set him off.
the agency has 30 days to appeal to the FLRA: they absolutely will do so.
Same thing HHS did
Read an article they are definitely appealing and my PC management hasn’t even acknowledged anything about it
And the government will win at the FLRA. Majority are Trump appointees.
Love this but it was reiterated today in an all-hands that scheduled telework in not coming back. Wish we weren’t so hated by our “leaders”.
So they declared they're going to continue breaking the law out loud? Lol
I don’t understand why they just don’t say ok to the higher ups and then just have workers go hybrid. I’m not seeing much verification on workers being in the office just loud demands
She is not saying telework is never coming back. She is saying it's not coming back voluntarily with this administration and current SSA leadership. Stop asking her about telework. What do you want her answer to be?
Probably going to appeal it, hold up the appeal for months or years. I'm not expecting telework at any agency until at least the end of this pedo administration
The next round of CBAs need to reflect risk adjusted terms for the bargaining unit employees who now see that their rights can be easily trampled indefinitely by the court system.
For sure and there’s several other agency telework arbitrations coming up. They’re all going to rule in favor or the workers and then the agency will appeal. To my understanding they are supposed to give telework back during the appeal process unless they were granted a stay…w...
I haven't seen the proof yet...but a girl in the Union sits beside me in our Cube Farm...about 30 minutes ago she was looking at her phone and told the whole Unit they had won and they were told to bring telework back for us (SSA) but im not getting excited just yet....this ad...

HUD won their telework arbitration about 2 weeks ago. Crickets so far. They are required to bring it back by this next pay period.
Union sent out mass text
AFGE also won for at least HUD and EPA. We are still RTO. I can’t wait for contracts and law to be honored again.
When though, in 3 years?! 😒
Exactly they are just point blank ignoring the laws
The union members got a text saying "We won" is what my friend in the Union told me. I asked her if they sent her a link...she said nope just the text. The win is 100% legit. Im in the PC and it really did end up being a victory for the Union. BUT now comes the part where the...
We ddnt win until we actually win!
Does anyone have the link for this?
For now I’m only seeing it being posted on Facebook by the unions https://www.facebook.com/share/17orGZLFU6/?mibextid=wwXIfr
What does it mean to “win” a telework arbitration if nothing is done to bring back the privilege for all eligible to telework?
My thoughts exactly. I wish a union member could come in and explain cus why am I going into office now when I should be teleworking
Nice! So many haters on this sub were saying "get over it" and "nothing going to change". There going to appeals that for sure but we need to keep fighting this admin.
Nothing will change, this will be appealed
Don’t get excited; an appeal is imminent.
The nice thing last time when this happened during the infamous Saul years we got to telework still until final appeal was lost and telework ceased 11/2019. That lasted two months then Covid happened and Saul was in panic mode. SSA was able to telework work still all the way t...
I hope they allow it during the inevitable appeal. *fingers crossed*
I work in a call center environment for SSA. ALL of my work is done over the phone. We see ZERO members of the public in person. Why on earth did we have to go back to the office full time? To make us miserable and it's worked. Morale is low. I sit in a cubicle all day treated...
If we didn't have a bunch of coward or complicit supervisors, this "put us in trauma" campaign would have been much more difficult for the sadists above to enact, like Darth Vaught.
Appeals inbound as the pedo in charge can’t be wrong.
Apparently the Seattle TSC was still teleworking 4 days a week.
OHO still has telework too
OHO attorneys only go in once a month. And support staff once a week.
I’m f
NTEU is having a town hall next week. I submitted the question, "if agencies are ignoring arbitrators and judges decisions then why should I follow what the agency tells me to do if it has been ruled illegal?" Time to invest in firewood... I expect a lot of smoke to be b...
They will just tell you to go in & allow them to fight via court. Same as initially
The 65 page decision dated today! Is the source
The unions are posting about it on FB currently but there’s no other source/link they’ve provided yet. https://www.facebook.com/share/17orGZLFU6/?mibextid=wwXIfr
Yeah, but where can it be viewed?
[https://www.afge1395.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/FMCS-25031704421-AFGE-SSA.pdf](https://www.afge1395.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/FMCS-25031704421-AFGE-SSA.pdf)

Unlikely anything will change The administration more or less told agencies to ignore the unions altogether, even the rulings related to union agreements. The read i get is that agencies are pretending unions dont exist, or if they do exist, they're meaningless.
Is there a source article?
Source= trust me bro
Union sent out a text and email with the court ruling
Right now it appears to only be posted on FB https://www.facebook.com/share/17orGZLFU6/?mibextid=wwXIfr
Just don't tell the president or he might issue another executive order
Do you mean AFGE won? This headline implies that SSA won and the arbitrator said they can keep denying telework. Is there any articles about it?
Good point..I believe they meant the union representing SSA bargaining unit employees won. As one of the AFGE local chapters posted about the win for AFGE.
Suck it Russ Vought and his goons from the H Foundation!
I'm old enough to remember when binding arbitration was binding
Congrats on the 🏆! I would love to hear when you are actually teleworking. These jokers will Appeal, I am sure. Ugh
Why wouldn't they? No reason not to, besides happy employees. But who wants that!?

Just heard from a union rep that if you actually read the arbitration docs, when the agency decides to appeal it has to go back to the arbitrator and she will make a decision again. Meaning she will probably vote in favor of the union again. Don’t shoot the messenger!
This is GREAT news! Hope it’s true!
SSA can appeal immediately, wasting 30 days, then AFGE has to respond (another 30 days), then it goes to FLRA for 6 to 18 months. The arbitrator just retains jurisdiction, which means if FLRA rules in favor of the unions, and SSA refuses to implement the resolution, that AFGE ...
The arbitration win means next to nothing from what I understand. Due to the way federal personnel litigation occurs, SSA "leadership" is able to appeal (even when found of wrongdoing). They already sent out a notice from HR stating that their intent is to appeal, and that emp...
Why isn’t the status quo enforced until the appeals are exhausted??????
I've been asking this question for over a year now. All our union reps blew me off like it wasn't an issue. Now that all these rulings are coming in and being challenged/ignored by the agencies, I've been hit with the sad "see, this is what ibwas worried about so long" that th...
The status quo of RTO? That is being enforced. Why isn’t the arbitration decision being enforced? Because there’s no mechanism to do so
Lobby-complain to congress, they want votes, get some skin in the game, their constituents benefit from the various agencies, and employees contracts need to be respected like any other union
There’s a bill sitting in the senate that the house passed which restores unions and CBAs. Call your Republican senator and tell them to grow a spine and pass this.
Agree, TBH we are stronger than we thought. Trans is a huge deal and it certainly partly shaped the 2024 election, but there are only \~3M Americans that are trans. We got roughly the same amount of federal employees, I just don't see why federal employee can't be an importan...
This gives a possible path for early 2028 (possibly late 2027) return.
Seems likely, but if all else fails — fight for 2029 return!!
If the Republicans get the absolute walloping they're fixing to get this fall, it may wake up congress to do something. House will go deep blue and even the Senate could see a few seats flip blue. Maybe a 50-50 split.
I pray im out of the government by then, SSA is an absolute joke
I mean if DOGE can bring their work home with them.
Inmate P01135809 ignored SCOTUS ruling tariffs unconstitutional. You think he'll listen to an arbitrator? https://www.pbs.org/newshour/economy/president-trump-increases-global-tariffs-to-15-after-supreme-court-decision
Text msg we got clearly stated this can be appealed to the FLRA
Good News! I hope we hear about the VA bargaining agreement contract soon
will this go through the same judges that has rescinded everything? This is like going back to your abuser for answers, lol not so much
I never stopped
I was in an office a few years back and watched people without status argue to near violence with SSA employees about issuing social security cards/numbers to their kids and family members back home, there in the office with them, or themselves . Not one individual had citizen...
Not management, but not under any union contract. My position is screwed with majority RTO. 🥺
The Adminstration can do what they're doing with the previous Arbitrator's decisions that went against them and file an Appeal in the Courts who could then issue an injunction or stay that does not allow the Arbitration ruling to take effect
Now it makes sense why OHO IT staff (now reassigned under OCIO) had their bargaining unit status removed recently. The timing is no coincidence.
The same came down for HUD. Have 30 days to appeal.
The same for PASS at the FAA. However, they’re still denying our telework agreements so 🤷🏻♀️.
But haven’t they always had an out? Even if you have the right to telework, hasn’t mgmt always had discretion to “temporarily suspend” it as needed to support the mission? Temporary = length determined by the COSS
My thoughts well before they formally ended DM suspended tw due to operational needs so if they still have that discretion then a win is moot!
No. And if you read the decision they directly address this “argument”
Not ssa but we were told our duties changed enough that we needed to be in the office. Guess what? Big surprise, nothing changed. Still doing the same work. Still having lots of virtual meetings. It's all designed to kill morale and get people to leave.
Source?
Any source ?
Yep would like a source on this
