I cant really blame them. They can't sustain not being paid. Now they have to recruit people who wont get paid. Thst is going to be a tough one.
Meanwhile we spend $2+ BILLION per day bombing Iran.
What recruitment. Don’t they have a hiring freeze like the rest of the government ? Or did they make an exception.
General public doesnt seem to understand (or, let’s be honest, care about) just how fucking bad it’s been working for the feds. DOJ is awful rn but i cant imagine going through yet another shutdown.
People generally only care when it effects them directly.
We understand and some may care.
DHS has been “shutdown” for 24 days now. Giving Trump the top 3 longest shutdowns. Clinton had a partial shutdown for 21 days and Obama had a 16 day one. A total of 109 days of some or all agencies have been shutdown under him (and most were under a R trifecta). This is now 6...
Good, I hope the lines are long and the public is finally inconvenienced too. Seems as though no one cares about the few areas that are still working without pay.
Agreed.
Yep, I'm one of them too not being paid.
While I don’t have any hard numbers. It does feel like things are happening faster than the last shutdown. Today is day 25 and it seems there’s been no significant progress in Congress. A major issue I’ve noticed from posts on various forums is creditors and landlords are not ...
This shut down doesn't have SNAP or ATC to put pressure on Congress to reopen and they just started a war that took everyone's attention. They know if there gonna be any pressure it's from them.
I didn’t know there was a shut down currently.
My wife was flying from Puerto Rico today and said TSA lines were all the way outside the doors. 1.5-2 hr wait.
Yea I saw some pics on another sub. Crazy.
I'm confused. Isn't this a good thing? The White House #1 priority is being rid of federal employees. The White House & Republicans should look at this as an opportunity of what they will do when the government is shutdown & everyone is "at will." You won't have to wor...
I hope all quit and then they can blame him for no air flow it’ll work in our favor
I want a government that works for us not against us.
300 officers quit? How is that even possible? My coworkers and I are Excepted and worked during the 40+ whatever day shutdown without pay because we have bills and families that require health insurance.
I mean, there are like 30,000 officers. I’m sure 300 quit every month.
They have high turnover and always have. TSA did have about 3500 resignations since January 2025, so about 300 a month across the 1802 series (Transportation Security Officers) of that workforce. Source: https://data.opm.gov/explore-data/analytics/workforce-changes
Think they'll start allowing the public to cancel flights for free again like last time?
In the last three months tsa has gone like 60 days and counting without pay. Even after the last shutdown we had to wait until the next payday to get back wages. I resigned. Others will too..
Good for them!
If an employer isn't paying for it, who the fuck can afford to travel anyway.
Many people. Weird comment.
Just in time for gas prices to spike and the huge COL increase that comes from higher oil prices
Funny thing about doing work... You expect to get paid!
But the stock market is over 50,000! Oh wait…..

I couldn’t imagine putting up with the public in a job like that, not getting paid.

This is probably Trump’s plan to return the TSA function back to the local airport authorities. This is the beginning of the end…
Yep. Give the contract to one of his “friends”
 Absences only *double*??
TSA management threatens discipline for call outs during a shut down, and no union to offer any real protection like ATC. It's them against the world.
Is it a requirement (I guess by Congress or executive order) that it has to be DHS/TSA providing these services, or is there a scheme cooking in the background to privatize air travel security while putting the administrative and contracting part under the auspices of another ...
There is absolutely a private TSA option. They have to follow the same rules, standards, and training of federalized TSA, and for most airports they don't view the additional overhead as worth the hassle. It also, in the grand tradition of contractors replacing salaried feds...
It always bewildered me that we never did a “continue previous agreement until a new one can be agreed upon”

America First yet we can’t pay American citizens to do an important job that involves national security.
My flight next week should be an adventure. The airport here is now recommending we show up at least four hours before our scheduled departure. I ain’t mad at y’all, TSA. I’ll be there at 0300 with a positive attitude. Tired, but won’t take it out on TSA. I started my federa...
If you’re willingly flying right now for leisure, you deserve to be inconvenienced at this time
They have ti have a certain amount of tsa agents
I'm amazed at the general lack of blowback from the traveling public. Our air travel is essential for the economy to function.
I hope they all quit
Good.
The Dems could very easily propose a bill to just fund parts of DHS such as them. Problem is that the republicans will never bring it to a vote
They have done that, and ya it has gone nowhere. [https://www.appropriations.senate.gov/news/minority/senate-republicans-block-bill-to-pay-tsa-agents-fund-fema-and-cyber-defense-agency-as-they-drag-their-feet-on-common-sense-reforms-to-protect-americans-from-violence-at-the-h...
Repugs created the problem. They own the problem.
They need to be privatized and have a union to protect them. What a mess! Thank you TSA!
Oh no, not the TSA. Oh noooooo 😴
Anyone working in Nazi DHS should immediately resign, starting with ICE
There are 22 agencies within DHS including FEMA, TSA, USCIS, and the Coast Guard. Not everyone is a 'Nazi' in DHS.
We don't need TSA.
You’re joking. Unless you’re advocating for less airport security and more 9/11 type incidents.
Get rid of the TSA. They serve no real purpose. Let each airport run their own security.
TSA is more than TSOs. In addition to what TSOs do to protect the homeland on the front line, TSA employees’ mission is to protect the pipelines, rail, & air. Inspectors ensure airplanes are in compliance, specialists travel worldwide to ensure countries align w/aviation s...
