Yes but how many billionaires do they have? What about people with extra houses. See they don't have that!

Privatisation is a disease

50
Brave_Dog
Brave_Dog· 28d ago

Privatisation of things funded not by the "customer" but by tax funds is corruption. Speaking as a Swede where private for profit schools are given an amount of tax money per enrolled student. Mostly, it goes as you'd expect.

Dont worry, our current parties in the government have done a stellar job at shitting over all of the achievements our school system reached. The funding is gutted to shreds forcing schools to have less staff and larger class sizes. In the past decade, im not sure exactly when...

This is why "just copy Finland" is such a shallow talking point. What people admire is largely the older version of the system, before years of underfunding, overcrowding, broken promises, and screen-pushing consultants started eating away at it. The lesson is still useful, bu...

I’d add decoupling school funding from local property taxes, as that just keeps poor areas poor

It's because once schools became only publicly funded, the only way for the rich to have better schools for their own kids was to voluntarily raise taxes. Higher taxes meant more money would be available for schools, and they have flourished since.

We don't have for-profit schools but university students basically have to take student loan to be able to live unless they are working at the same time or living with their parents. For instance I have student debt for 30k and still have a year left of my masters degree.

The different between most and all is massive. As long as there are bolt holes for the rich to escape to, they have schools by the balls. It does not take many private schools to completely insulate the rich.

Truthfully, reinvesting profit is how every company should be forced to operate. There should be absolutely zero dollars going to corporate greed. If you can't make a company work on a 6 figure salary, you shouldn't be making 6 figures.
