I feel employees need to be able to evaluate and provide feedback on the political appointees at their agencies. That's the commence of transparency.
We get to provide feedback on career civil servants, why not the same for others? Why ought to they not be subject to "merit based evaluations" only just resembling the rest of us?

Oh yeah, the Hatch Act definitely needs to be revisited if we make it out of this malarkey.
This isn’t prohibited by the hatch act. Evaluating a supervisor is not engaging in prohibited “political activity” while on duty.
imh-ianal-o its in conflict with 1A. Lots of non human political personhoods get their 1A defended, civil servants should too.
I’ll just say because reality has become political I’ve seen misinformation spread on intelligence channels because no one wants to violate the hatch act to refute clearly bullshit information, because it’s political in nature
I don't like this idea because it feels like it would end up being political or bring political beliefs into the discussion. Or, with this administration, point out "problem employees" for them to find ways to fire or loyalists to promote. I agree that our agency and departmen...
Even before this administration no one gave a shit about the federal bureaucracy if it kept on humming. It will go right back to that when this is all set and done. And honestly, that's the job. Administration is bureaucracy and bureaucracy, even though it has a bad meaning wh...
To play some devils advocate, that technically did happen a few years ago. Some “whistleblowers” from my agency got trotted out talking about how their investigations were being “stonewalled” about some laptop. They testified in front of congress, did lots of media appearanc...
They don't even let us evaluate our supervisors.
I would just like to provide feedback on our supervisors
I just wish I could evaluate and provide feedback on my sorry ass, incompetent supervisor.
Agreed. I've had a few that were clearly "failed up" because they couldn't be fired. Or promoted as a result of nepotism or favoritism. Former supervisor loved to say "fake it until you make it", seriously only incompetent people say that shit.
You do, at the ballot box.
Last USDA FSA state office appointee rarely showed up at the office and didn't know anything about the agency or mission. But had no problem pocketing his GS-13 pay during his 8 years of doing nothing and knowing nothing.
Think Ratemyprofessor.com only for government staff to rate managers they’ve worked with. Full transparency.
Some agencies do... or did.... RIP USAID.
Better yet OPM,OMB, GSA, MSPB need to be independent agencies like GAO. HR, Facilities, and IT should not have any political appointees. Outside of influence on additional regulations that have to go through the APA, and hosting special events with the administration’s priori...
The voters are the only ones who should evaluate politicians. Don't be silly. And anyway, such an evaluation wouldn't be objective. An agency head could be doing a great job and half the employees would say "They won't let me telework, I'd give them zero stars if I could".
are you a voter? am I a voter? are we all not voters?
Politicians and political appointees are not the same thing. Votes in an election will in no way be measurable in relation to a single associate deputy secretary or a schedule c. Also it is no reflection of what they’re like as a supervisor or manager. Agency heads are hardl...
That is a terrible metric though, because telework objectively is the better choice. It verifiably saves taxpayer dollar through a slew of reasons and leads to a more productive workforce. Are there bad actors who abuse it? Absolutely. Does everyone also know that one person t...
