BBQ sauce is a better base for a pizza than regular tomato sauces.
Come across as good. Tomato-based sauce is okay. It's traditional but a decent barbecue sauce as the base for a pizza just adds so much more richness and flavor that there's really no comparison and all of you tomato-based people are just mistaken

So when I was around 15 my parents left me and my brother alone at home. She premade us some pizza dough so we can make pizza and my brother, who was obsessed with BBQ sauce at the time, decided to make one with BBQ sauce instead of red sauce and it was disgusting.
I mean bbq chicken pizzas are good but it’s much less versatile and sometimes It’s just too sweet and less palatable

My favorite bbq pizza is a 50/50 mix of pizza sauce and bbq sauce, ham, bacon, onions, green pepper, jalepeno, and black olives. Ground beef works really well too.
But you and the commenter below you don’t agree with OP. You agree that it is good in some instances but isnt better in all. OP is saying BBQ sauce is just better. OP isn’t being called weird for liking it with some toppings, they’re weird for saying it’s better.
BBQ sauce is too strong and overpowering to cover a whole pizza, the flavor drowns out the flavor of all the toppings. One of the reasons tomato sauce works so well is its a subtle taste that compliments the toppings.

It only works in specific situations. A BBQ chicken or BBQ pork pizza or something is a great thing, but simply replacing a traditional pizza sauce with BBQ and making no other changes doesn’t work.

I’d say I use BBQ as the base sauce 80% of the time. I love it with chicken or beef, add veggies, a good cheddar added to it. Love it. That said, the tomato sauce goes with practically everything you’d want on a pizza. It’s more versatile and it’s delicious.

I grew up with my parents owning a pizza restaurant. We tried all kinds of crazy stuff. BBQ chicken pizza is actually great. Ranch and salsa also work well. Straight ketchup is awful. Don’t even think about blue cheese.
