If you had a laptop or phone inside they were probably after those instead. Never leave electronics in view. When possible take them with you.

My guess is they stole something instead of actively trying to steal it. Cars either have immobilisers so you can’t, unless you have keyless entry then no window smash is needed. Fucking sucks tho

Usually when the window is broken it’s usually to grab bags or valuables, if you noticed the seat being folded, that’s to access the boot of the car, probably not a grand theft auto
They were probably looking for loot, but that sucks. The only time I ever left a bunch of money in my car overnight in my driveway because I said 'ah it'll be fine, it's only one night and it's safe here' I found my car unlocked in the morning and 2K gone.
Saw a video of a lot of this happening ion one county in Maryland. They did arrest three guys.
