That last bit is what I've been thinking since DOGE started taking over offices. *If* we get out of this and rebuild, we'll need a whole new system regarding identity and privacy.

We have to assume every database at every agency is compromised at this point. This is much bigger than the OPM breach, they’ll need to get identity protection for the entire country.

Because the current administration seems to encourage and support this behavior.
It was a DOGE employee and it is highly unlikely that they will be held accountable under this Administration. For one, I heard that they won’t do anything on the basis that they have dismantled DOGE.
He seems to think he will be pardoned.
We are already at that point, right? Pandora’s box has already been opened and we need to be working on creating that new system of how identity works in this country now.
We will have to wait until these people are gone. Anything started now would only be open to the same kind of compromise.

Every last one of them needs to be brought to trial and convicted. And the penalties should be far more stringent than "every last dollar that they (& their dog) possess". AFAIC, capital punishment of every last perp and enabler would not be too severe.

If one wanted to tamper with elections, they might also want to tamper with the structure of the identity system.
Big Balls or whatever that loser’s name was got beat up in the street and given security to keep illegally obtaining data. What can we do as citizens to stop this from getting worse at this point?

It might be time to consider a PKI based identity and authentication service à la DoD. At least then we can revoke stolen credentials and reissue new ones.
