What's worse is someone pushing into the locked door, noticing it locked, and peeping through the crack as if they still have any questions as to if it's occupied or not.

I’m finally seeing this style of stall disappear. All the new stalls in the hospital I work in are more private. The doors and walls still don’t go to the floor but at least the doors are no longer like this.

Places do this on purpose because they don't want you to use the toilet, establishments need to give you the option but it doesn't mean it needs to by a nice one. If you don't use it because of the gap, they don't need to clean it as much.
