I hate that jobs try frame it like working there is some type of favor to you. Workers should be able to relax when the work is done or sit in stores instead of standing.
It also actually encourages good work, why would I work quickly if my only reward is more work
everything is cleaned and prepared... you want me to pretend I'm working? fuck you! you're the manager, you make more than me. how about use your imagination pretend I'm working
It's like when missionaries came to California and saw brick workers not making bricks 8 hours a day. They made the bricks by order, and if no one needed them, why make them? But it's the same mindset we have today, where finishing work early is rewarded with more work.
$15 ain't shit anymore - even $20 an hour isn't living wages in a lot of areas...fuck these type of people
Seriously $20/hr is a little under $42k before taxes. In my city of 100,000 people that would maybe barely be a liveable wage. $2500 is taxes. 20k is going straight to rent. That leaves you with around $1650 for food, clothing, health insurance, leisure, phone, internet, power...
I made $15 in my first job after college…in 2010. Wasn’t even a living wage then.
20 an hour here, 30-40 hours a week. I live in my car, lmao.
if there are no orders coming in, it's because every potential customer is also underpaid.
People that resist raising wages always say it'll make the costs go up so they can pay the higher wages, but they always forget that sales go up too if people have more money to spend on stuff besides rent, beans, and utilities.
It's because the lazy owners aren't advertising sufficiently.
This is what people don't understand about the economy. If the minimum wage went up and people had their basic needs met. We'd see a ton of growth
Exactly this happened to me years ago. Kept my station clean and everything was stocked, super slow day. Except the owner took the picture and he didn't have my number so he sent it to everyone else that worked there to try and 'shame' me.
I have walked out of a kitchen for less jfc
They tried to start a WhatsApp shaming chat among my mom's coworkers but every time they call someone out for some bullshit my mom hops in there and drags them right back to defend her co-workers lol. We need to start heavily shaming this kind of boss because it's such humilia...
“Got time to lean, got time to clean!” -boomer shitfuck
Back then it helped - my dad got promoted a bunch for his enthusiasm. Now? I do a lot of work because otherwise this place falls apart due to understaffing and my boss doesn’t even acknowledge my existence and we get no raises.
I think OOP wants the kid to come clean his filthy camera lens.
"you have time to lean you have time to clean" kinda bullshit. You don't know what kind of day this guy had. This could be the last 10 minutes of his day after rushing.
That phrase still makes my blood boil to this day.
The boomer generation fucked over businesses by demanding higher wages. Enough to cause inflation when they were entering the workforce. They used the fact that the generation before them went to war to their advantage. Demanding higher pay for the plentiful available jobs. ...
Stop blaming boomers. The new generations just elected a pedophile.
I'm confused, so are higher wages for all of us bad? Are businesses actually fucked over? I might be dumb here cause I'm confused what your message is. Asking in good faith.
We wanted $15 15 years ago
rent prices have pretty much doubled in the past 15 years also.
They are there to do a job not be your slave.
I can never understand why employers will punish efficiency. There is no such thing as 110% efficiency. If my work area is stocked up, cleaned, and I have prepped for my work tomorrow with 10 minutes to spare, there’s absolutely no reason to shame me for using that 10 minutes t...
I used to manage staff for a small cinema and I always told them that as soon as they finished their work they were more than welcome to just hang out. Like, if the front of house is clean and stocked, and there are no customers, why would I care if they’re on their phones or...
Their pea sized brains can only comprehend that they are not extracting the maximum value out of you. They are actually mad they couldn't come up with a way to utilize ALL your downtime for the sake of their buisness. Looking at you doing nothing when you could be doing "som...
Be a gas. Make the work stretch out to fill the time. Become so busy that nothing productive gets done.
I like hiring lazy people because they will come up with clever ways of getting things done so they can go back to doing nothing.
Exactly. All progress stands on lazy people finding easier ways for doing things. Worker bees just get shit done and not think two seconds about it.
I remember hearing this attributed to Bill Gates but its older than that. The core idea is that "lazy" people are actually just motivated to find the most efficient, clever and/or faster solutions.
Minimum wage minimum effort
I know this one. "Well, pick up a broom and sweep the floors," "Again."
The owners need us, we don't need them.
Bruh, how much time were boomers smoking out back, or just plain drunk at work?
I've literally had boomer coworkers tell me it's okay because that's social. Being on your phone is antisocial, therefore bad. The idea that I have nothing to say to their dumb asses doesn't compute to them. To them, they're the most interesting person in the world.ld.
Funny they criticize like that (*and I think his rest is deserved, fast food work deserves respect), but Ive seen way worse in the white-collar class for time wasting.
Let's be fair, it was my generation (54yo) that started the "Fight for 15!" back in the 90s. $15/hour is not enough to live on now. The whole point is that a single full time job ought to be able to feed, house and cloth someone. Otherwise, why are we even doing it?
Even their own logic fucks em. if he ain't getting 15 why would he be working like he was?
You get what you pay for
I hate boomers
Bet the moron posting this would himself benefit from a raised floor but prefers to identify with billionaires.
Yes, the notion the employees have to be doing something is something I always fucking hated. Either reduce staff or let them chill while you wait for the rush. Maybe they’ll even like working there. If the store is clean and customers are satisfied it should be normalize. CE...
Guaranteed bigeyereaper shits on company time
I remember not being able to sit. Sometimes 10 hr double shifts on the floor. Even if it was dead no sitting or just resting. If you can sit you can roll napkins/ utensils. I would have tubs full and still they would look for something.
The Billionaires have so successfully conned the oldest generations, they get free undying support.
Why aren't white collar workers expected to do nothing but work for 8 hours?
What’s the problem? We pay senators and the president way more to do even less.
If you assign me a task and expect it to take all day, and I figure out a way to do it in half the time then the other half is mine. If you want to assign me more work because of my sweet efficiency skills, well now we have to talk about a raise. Any other line of thinking tha...
Mmm. I’m feeling this today. Got bitched at by my boss this week for showing up late. Yea, my bad, so I stayed after to make up for it and ended up closing the week with 54 total hours worked. Asshole spent Friday calling me “part-timer.”
I’m pretty sure it should be $25 by now. Eat the rich. Leave them nowhere to run.
"I found this one picture of what looks like a teenager not working at their job; therefore people shouldn't be paid a living wage." If that's all you've got, we shouldn't even need to advocate for anything, you lose by default.
As the owner of the chain restaurant is playing golf in the Caribbean on a Tuesday
Some people let their slave-owning DNA show when it comes to minimum wage workers.
I used to bartend the Sunday day shift at a mom and pop pizza place for a tiny bit of extra cash. There were the regulars (mostly three alcoholics) and the folks who knew me who would come in to hang, but most of what I did there was chill behind the bar playing my music. It w...
1. You don't look busy, he is taking a moment to relax and gather himself. 2. If you want someone to work harder, pay them more.
"Time to lean, time to clean" *insert photo of a minion next to a profile picture of a middle aged white dude with Oakley's here*
Same generation that has been force fed brainrot content by corporations trying to squeeze every single cent out of their browsing habits so that they have addict-like compulsions to be nose deep in their devices.
He wants him to stand there like a robot, looking forward at nothing, primed and ready to jump into action at any moment. Because he doesn't see workers as human beings, but as something that only benefits himself.
Probably coming from someone who hasn't done anything but click reload on their stock portfolio for the past decade.
When I walk into the gas station near my home the 60 year old woman working there will be sitting on her phone. Nothing to do with the generation.
I’ve said this before but boomers are truly miserable. Just because y’all suffered doesn’t mean we have to. Why can’t they be happy for future generations and help lift us up instead of constantly saying that we’re lazy and not working hard enough?
They want them to clean in the air ducts and under the refrigerators. (Worked at a theme park and the restaurants would have a Flashlight Inspection, requiring those places to also be clean)
I supervised a third shift warehouse that stored food for multiple companies. We were staffed so that we could handle product flow from four different sources: four workers total. But it was rare that all four sources would by delivering at peak rates all night. Many nights...
That kitchen cleaner than mine, damn
This guy probably doesn't get meal breaks
I work in a hospital. If everything is stocked, no labs need to be run and other duties are complete i could care less what you do. As long as you do the work when its needed
Looks like a pizza place. Worked at one as a delivery guy as my second job for a few months and there was a constant amount of downtime where there was just straight up nothing to do. Monday and Tuesday nights were dead constantly
“If you got time to lean you got time to clean” ahhh motherfuckers
In any other job, there are many moments of no work. Only in retail do people think there is constant work all the time
The fuck is 15 an hour gonna buy now?
So exactly which generation are we blaming for studio apartments renting for $1500?
$15/hr is still too low for a minimum
Watch Bill Hicks on YT about why he don’t have a boss.
Perhaps they don't remember when it was totally acceptable for people to take a 'smoke break' several times a shift.
What’s funny is this is stolen content. The actual guy who took this pic is from Carolina. Started 3 days prior to taking this pic. This is Hickory Tavern in Hickory, North Carolina. The guy in the pic is a dishwasher with no dishes to clean lol. This dude started on March 5 ...
I make xxx, xxxx per year and sit around doing nothing a hell of a lot more then when I was a kid working jobs like this.
Idiots will say this but ignore that a good amount of corp work is once it’s done is to pretend to be busy so they don’t push worst deadlines
And he ain’t in the back by the dumpsters hitting the weed pen he’s at least on the line so he will see the incoming orders. His work area seem very clean, they either waiting for close time or it’s DEAD.
Same generation complaining about this was used to just reading a whole-ass newspaper at their desk while on the clock lol.
You must actually earn your existence in their book
That posture is going to be very prevalent in the years to come
Dude managed to completely work himself out of work and have a spotless workspace while doomscrolling. The photographer didn't even bother to wipe the disgusting grease smudges off of their lens. I know which of the two does better work.
Lick the floor clean, wagey! Go on, I want to feel something in my burn out soul! I want to feel BIG and POWERFUL. That's their thought process, I guarantee it. "I might have it shitty, but if someone has it worse, then I get an erection" or sth.
I wanted $15 min wage 20 motherfucking years ago. Now I want $30.
They've been stuck on minimum wage shouldn't be $15/hr for so long now that it needs to be $25/hr!
Maybe on his break.
$15 isnt liveable anymore. Hell, $20 can barely scratch the surface with today's inflation.
“there’s always something to do” bro got me washing the fucking walls n shit
Been fighting for $15 so long now it's $30.
Manager wants a $7 an hour beej
for me this has similar vibes to the odd idea that cashiers are not allowed to sit in the USA.
